TOOTING MY HORN

Naked Wanderings recently posting the 12 + 1 naturist events you shouldn’t miss in 2019.  One of the twelve was the Bare Burro 5k.  Here is what they said about it:

“Some call it the queen of nude 5k runs in the United States, some call it the best nude party ever and Californians just call it something that starts with ‘dude’.  In any case, the Bare Burro is legendary.  The epic nude run through the desert of southern California yearly attracts more than 300 participants and is the main attraction of the day.” - https://www.nakedwanderings.com/blog/2019/03/07/nude-events-2019/

I started this race.  I named it; laid out the course; got the signs, t-shirts, and awards; advertised it; organized it the first two years; and reported the results.  The first year we had over 100 participants.  My friend Lee won it the first year.

A friend from Olive Dell recently said they were going to have to limit participation in the future because it had gotten so large.

I’m proud of it!  This is definitely something you should do.  Maybe I’ll return to run or walk it as a participant.

Here are a few other thoughts about the Bare Burro 5K:

It's the ultimate fun run, bucket list event and genuinely unique and challenging 5K.  The 10th Annual Bare Burro Nude 5K is the best nude run in Southern California.  It starts at Olive Dell Nudist Resort and winds through the foothills, along trails with panoramic views, ending back at the resort swimming pool and clubhouse.   It's a technical course that's roughly 50% dirt fire roads and the balance on single track dirt trails.  With over 300 participants, there is a great mix of serious runners and fun lovers looking for a unique running experience.  Top finishers are highly competitive with a number of running clubs participating.” - https://www.raceplace.com/events/46097/2019-bare-burro-nude-5k-trail-run

[About the Bare Burro 5K] “I’m running naked along a beautiful trail through the California foothills, looking at snow covered peaks in the distance and . . . everyone else is smiling and happy.   Mom may have been wrong.  Getting naked, hot and sweaty with 300 strangers isn’t a bad thing at all. . . You start seeing naked spectators cheering you on.  You’re feeling good and thinking I am the man!  And you push a little harder since you know all the spectators can tell exactly what kind of man you are.  There’s lots of high fives and congratulations at the finish line.   Nobody remembers they’re naked.  We’re just a group of people who think running is fun. . . Nobody makes a move to put their clothes on.  Why ruin a perfect vibe when running and chilling out naked is so much goodr.” - https://goodrtimes.goodr.com/goodr-bare-burro-5k-2017/
