QUOTES 7/23/2019

“I was naked this morning because I realized I didn’t want to feel like my nakedness was something I needed to hide.  I wanted to not be ashamed to be as God made me.  And I felt like, as long as I was in my room behind a closed door, I was.  It was like my body was a candle whose light I had covered with my hands.  And now the heat and hot wax was burning my fingers and palms.  The candle was telling me ‘Let my light shine.’” - https://timothyach.wordpress.com/2017/01/26/being-naked-outside/

“New Gymnasia Trailer” Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGINgsoxhj8

“It is okay to have photos of naked women whom have change their bodies through surgeries hanging up in public.  It is totally okay to allow big companies to encourage women to change their bodies.  It is totally okay to spam the Internet and magazines with photos of big porn stars and top models whom have had their photos manipulated with, their body changed through strict diets or extreme workouts.  BUT: It is not okay to have women breastfeeding in public?  It is not okay for a woman to take off her top on the beach – or in any other situation where a man would do?  It is not okay to just have: A normal natural naked woman body?” - https://najayana.wordpress.com/2016/05/18/yes-this-is-my-female-body-no-i-am-not-ashamed/

“My main enjoyment is the freedom from clothes and the relaxing feeling of not having their restrictions.” – NakedWalkers, https://www.truenudists.com/group/nude-parties/1/105180/3/

“. . . these two extremes represent different sides of the same coin.  While popular culture tends to disempower women by telling them they must dress to get men to look at them, the modesty culture tends to disempower women by telling them they must dress to keep men from looking at them.  In both cases, the impetus is placed on the woman to accommodate her clothing or her body to the (varied and culturally relative) expectations of men.  In both cases, it becomes the woman’s job to manage the sexual desires of men, and thus it is seen as her fault if a man ignores her on the one hand or objectifies her on the other.  Often, these two cultures combine to send out a pulse of confusing messages: ‘Look cute … but not too cute!  Be modest … but not frumpy!  Make yourself attractive … but not too attractive!”  Women are left feeling ashamed of their bodies as they try desperately to contort around a bunch of vague, ever-changing ideals.  It’s exhausting, really, dressing for other people.” - Rachel Held Evans, http://qideas.org/articles/modesty-i-dont-think-it-means-what-you-think-it-means/

Amy and I have enjoyed carnuding lots on our vacation - from our home in Arizona to Yellowstone and now across Idaho.

Have you enjoyed carnuding?

QUOTES 7/22/2019

“Regarding ‘Driving Naked,’ I drove the 33 miles from home with just a tee shirt on.  Route was along interstate 81 then state and local roads passing through three small villages.  On the way back, I dispensed with the tee shirt and had on only my hiking shoes.  All told, I was able to be naked for about 6-1/2 hours between the driving and hiking.” – Cynoutdoors

“New York Body Painting Day, Columbus Circle, NYC” - Video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D36sRTu-kSM

“I sometimes did drive nude, and co-driving as well, most of all at holiday trips.  Very comfortable and sensual, sometimes a bit thrilling.  Usually I care to have something in reach to cover up in case of need (police control etc.), but never had to make use of by now.” – Pixy

“As much as our clothing can say a lot about us, I often worry that my clothes aren’t saying what I wish they would.  I’m not good with fashion.  In some situation I feel anxiety and stress about what I should wear, or the appropriateness of what I have on.  Taking my clothes off can be like taking my makeup off.  Like refusing to play the game of trying to look good to please other people.  This is my body.  This is how I look.  Deal with it.  I am happy with my body . . . I just don’t understand what is so offensive about my body?  Just for being a body.” – Alexis Beckett, http://www.blog.bareoaks.ca/2014/11/my-experience-in-naturism-as-woman-and.html?m=1

“Women have an additional barrier to nudism . . . Many women don’t know whether nudism in a group setting will be safe, when actually it’s incredibly safe.  It’s safer than going out to a bar, because you know and trust these people.” - http://emergingnudist.blogspot.pt/2009/04/social-nudity-experience-female.html

“. . . we were in Mexico for a week and half. . . The people we went to see own two villas side by side . . . They had most of our last full day planned out, with the exception of about five hours in the middle of the day.  That was our cue to hike back to our secluded beach one last time.  I got naked as soon as we cleared the spot in the jungle where we were unlikely to be eaten alive by bugs. . . Most of the afternoon was spent strolling naked, very leisurely, back and forth from end-to-end on the beach, occasionally diving in to cool off. . . Just before writing this we received an e-mail from our main friends from Mexico saying we should come back again before they return to the states in May.  We may just wait until right before a forecasted blizzard and take them up on that.  We’ve cranked the heat up and are spending the day naked so it feels like we’re still there – not even close to the same but it’s fun acting like we are.” - Happy Hikers

Washing the Car

One of the best things about getting ready for a vacation is washing the car - nude!

“Naturists take off their clothes for themselves and out of respect for others.” – Kensunwalker

Discussion

Freehiking shows respect for others who are hiking with you and are also free from clothes.  Being nude with others is what naturism is about.

What have you done to be a naturist and show respect to others?

“I have driven nude from Norfolk Virginia to Asheville NC.  Also, from Central PA to Jacksonville, FL about 16 hours.  . . . Nude all the way except for those gas/comfort stops.  This summer I have been driving nude every time I get in the car.  It's just more comfortable.” – Awesam, https://www.truenudists.com/groups/view.php?action=viewthread&id=8077&idt=78072&page=2

Vacation

Amy and I will be vacationing for several weeks, so my daily blog will only be published occasionally during that time.  We will be visiting family, but will also do some carnuding and visit naturist places during that time.

“People are more open to jumping in a hot tube nude.” – Kensunwalker

Discussion

We love our hot tub.  Some of our friends appreciate naked soaking more than any other naturist-related activity.  Every naturist should have a hot tub!

Do you find it easier to introduce naturism to others because of your hot tub?

QUOTES 7/19/2019

“Being [naked is] an antidote and counters the media, advertising and all the messages telling you what you’re supposed to look like and how you should ‘fix’ your appearance . . . It’s empowering to be looked at as a human being and not judged based on sex appeal or appearance.” – Felicity, http://mic.com/articles/124242/6-reasons-you-love-being-naked-from-the-people-who-do-it-24-7

“Why am I working on my abs if no one gets to see them? . . . Wouldn’t we all be more inclined to get fit if we couldn’t cover up with clothes?” – Gigi Engle, http://elitedaily.com/life/nudist-world-full-of-clothes/1172391/

“Usually mow the lawns nude, it's a 2-hour process so a great way to get some sun and work done at the same time. . . We always garden nude and when at home we are seldom dressed.  Most friends know they can expect to find us outdoors and nude during the summer.” – Snowbares, https://www.truenudists.com/forum/viewthread.php?id=19080&page=1

“Some of my colleagues think D3 supplements are enough . . . But that supposes we know everything.  I suspect that we do not know everything.  Natural sunlight has to be the preferred route whenever possible.” - Bob Berman, http://www.nudist-resorts.org/talk/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6347

“Actually, about 20-some years ago I had a small warehouse business and before it got big enough to have employees, other than the UPS man every afternoon, nobody ever came through the door.  It was strictly mail order and phone ins.  So on hot days and without air conditioning, I would strip down and carry on business as usual.  I wonder what my customers would have thought if they knew I was taking their orders wearing nothing but a smile.  Everyone is crazy in their own way – well, except for me of course.” – Happy Hikers

QUOTES 7/17/2019

“So, in what ways, exactly, does social nudity reduce stress and thus promote better health? . . . it brings a number of inherently stress-reducing practices, opportunities, and features. . . One of the commonest sources of stress is loneliness and social isolation.  By definition, social nudity can take care of that. . . you have a ready-made network of like-minded people to provide you with plenty of friendships and socializing opportunities. . . chronic fear and anxiety are big stressors. . . social nudity can help build self-confidence . . .For many people, unhappiness about the appearance of their body is a big source of stress, and perhaps an obstacle to a happy social life.” - https://naturistphilosopher.wordpress.com/2015/03/12/benefits-of-social-nudity-stress-reduction-general-health/

“We have been hosting nude parties for years and had groups up to about 40 people.  Love it and plan one next month.  Try a theme like appetizers only, or board games.  The large size Junga is fun but hard on bare toes.” – SunnMaxx, https://www.truenudists.com/forum/viewthread.php?id=10565&page=1

“It is wrong to me that the Church seems to imply being naked is sinful; yet God communed with Adam and Eve when they were naked.  He covered them . . . because they were feeling shame.  It was not because they were naked, but because of their shame and disobedience, and the fact they wanted to hide from God.” – Trevor Humber, http://www.churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2006/21-july/features/the-bare-necessities-why-christians-go-naked

“I have no problem with a nudist beach on the Fraser Coast as long as it is not located on a joint ‘family’ orientated beach, is somewhat secluded, and is well sign-posted with warnings as per it’s designated use.  Each to their own I say...nudism can’t always be associated with group, free or gay sexual activity, and perverts are sick people who do not limit their comings and goings to just nude beaches so why not move with the times and join the many other countries around the world whom are much more liberal with their nudist beaches and tourism selections. . . I know nudism can be a family activity . . . but I also believe that it is every parent’s given right to choose what form and state of undress that their child/children will be subjected to.  Hence, adequate signage and warning of a clothing optional beach equals adequate freedom of choice in such matters.” – news-hound, http://www.frasercoastchronicle.com.au/news/beach-best-done-nude/2774541/

SCHOLZ LAKE FREEHIKE

7/15/2019 seven NNAZ members met at Parks AZ for a freehike along Scholz Lake.  The weather was perfect - blue skies, puffy clouds, little breeze, temps in the low 80's.  The views of the lake and surrounding mountains was 'never to be forgotten'.  Wild flowers greeted us along the trail - very few flies.  The feel of being naked with friends outdoors never ceases to amaze.

After a wonderful free hike, three of these naked friends ate lunch at the Parks General Store and Cafe.

The drive was a ways for us (nearly two hours), but it was definitely worth it.  Besides, I got to carnude both ways with Amy.  Wonderful memories!

Hopefully more members will join us for naked events in the future to create their own precious memories.
