“. . . there's one place that the sun will never set on naked Germany – its public baths.  Unlike its Japanese equivalent, where each gender has its own section, a German bathhouse is a completely mixed-gender clothing-free environment.  This may be challenging the first time you try it; but like nearly all public nudity it seems perfectly natural within 10 minutes.” - http://www.stuff.co.nz/travel/destinations/europe/86692894/getting-naked-in-germanys-bathhouses-why-germans-are-the-champions-of-public-nudity

“There were three young women at the next table and one, in particular, seemed to have an issue with me feeding Evie.  She told me we were putting her off her food and that it was disgusting to feed a baby in a restaurant.  She kept mouthing off in front of her friends and when my partner asked what her problem was, she said she didn't want to see my breasts when she was eating her dinner.  I felt like I hadn't done anything wrong, in fact I had specifically selected a table in a quiet corner of the restaurant so that I could be discreet.  It's not a display, it's not exhibitionism - it's just me trying to feed my daughter quietly.” – Liz Skelcher, http://www.bbc.com/news/37939718?ocid=socialflow_facebook&ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbcnews&ns_source=facebook

“We all have our secrets.  Something that is personal and only we know.  Nudism and naturism shouldn’t be one of those secrets.  Real Nudists have no secret, real nudists swap nude times [with] each other. . . If we can’t share our nudity with our friends or know they wouldn’t understand, are they the type of friends we want to have? . . . In general, friends and family shouldn’t keep secrets from each other.  Especially when the secret is something as big and life defining at nudism or naturism.” - http://nudistlove.blogspot.com/2016/12/real-nudist-have-no-secret.html

“The slightest sound that might indicate that another person just might somehow look in and see me nude, has my wife on edge.  Her on edge has me rush to cover up so that she can have a better sense of safety. . . As a result, this safe container that is our private part of the property has ceased to be safe for either of us. . . Choices have consequences.  Do I settle for a choice that leaves me in the shadows, on the fringes of depression, or do I choose to lose even more?” - https://skycladtherapist.wordpress.com/2016/12/16/theres-darkness-in-the-sunshine/

“My wife enjoys backyard and nude beach naturism but is not into nude hiking . . . She must have noticed my stress level lately and surprised me when she suggested I needed a hiking getaway to the mountains and told me to get lost for a week or until I got it out of my system.  I packed lightly and headed north to the Sierras east of Fresno.  I've free hiked many areas in the national forest over the years but never on such an extended trip. . . I stopped at a rest stop north of Bakersfield on Hwy 99 took off my shirt and shoes and shorts and drove naked staying mostly in the right lane until the next stop some 40 miles north.  After stopping for supplies at a market in the foothills above Fresno, I again drove nude up into the mountains until reaching my destination. . . The next several days were spent nude driving, hiking and mountain biking in the sierras . . . I was nude most of the day every day. . .” - Jay

“I enjoy driving naked and when it is after dark on a hot day in the desert, driving sans clothes is an enjoyable aspect to what usually is a boring aspect of our lives.  The last time I drove back toward LA from Palm Springs, I found driving nude made the trip far more comfortable.  Since I have been pulled over only 3 times in the last 20 years, I don't worry about the CHP.  During the day, if I am driving by myself, I will place a small piece of cloth over my loins - just enough to cover any Truck driver's view (not that they really look).  With the air vent, this still provides enough air circulation around my genitals to make it more comfortable.  If I am riding with my wife, she understands that should we be driving a significant distance, I will wear only a very thin pair of shorts.  As she says, as long as I am covered and she does not need to drive, what does she care?  So keep driving in the natural state!” – SoCalFreehiker

“Why would you wear clothes when it’s so warm out and your body would be more comfortable nude?  They all admitted that they wore clothes out of habit, to protect their perceived ‘vulnerabilities,’ or that they were uncomfortable with their body. . . Why not enjoy the freedom of nudity instead of holding on to something (clothes) that provide false securities?” - http://nomadgeeknudie.tumblr.com/post/116787158963/time-to-break-old-habits-begin-new-traditions

“I was at the Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta talking with a couple.  Told them I had to get away for the weekend.  They gave me a number and name to call of a nice resort close by that had a pool, hot tub and very friendly people.  As they left they told me it was a nudist resort.  I thought about it and decided to try it and went that weekend.  Loved the experience and the people I met.  They made me feel so welcome and everything seemed so natural.  When my daughter came down to work security with me I told here where I had gone and she wanted to go with me.  We went the next weekend and spent two days there.  We were hooked . . .”

“I can remember one of the first times that I was in a very large group of naked women, and that was at a bathhouse in Hungary. . . this is a common practice in a lot of countries . . . I was astonished how quickly I lost track of which bodies were the ones that were supposed to be beautiful.  And which ones were, if we were outside of that environment would receive scorn or ridicule.  I mean it was astonishing to me how quickly my ability to even judge that fell away. . . it becomes clear very quickly that bodies have their own internal sense of logic to them.” – Kimberly Dark, http://www.humanistexperience.com/podcast/episode4/transcript/

Naked UNO Attack

A naked life is FUN!  That’s why Amy and Ken hold Naked Home Events the fourth Monday of each month at their new home – to remember that.  While only one other person showed up at the home event in March (2018), we had lots of fun anyway playing UNO Attack, and certainly enjoyed talking and learning about each other’s naturist thoughts and experiences.  And not only did we learn that nakedness is fun, we also remembered that naked is normal; everyone needs to remember that.  After all, how often are you met and welcomed at the door by a naked person.  You will be at a Naked Home Event.  How often do you enjoy a game with other naked friends?  Hopefully more people will attend our Naked Home Event in April.  All are certainly welcome!

“I have been working nude at home as a telecommuter since mid-2001.  What a pleasure.  My stress level has reduced, and my job satisfaction and overall happy disposition as an employee (to say nothing of my productivity!) have increased tremendously since being able to work from home, nude about 90% of the year . . . I can hardly remember a conference call or other interaction with my co-workers over the past six years that hasn't been done nude . . . I would never again take a job in an office or anywhere else where I would be required to be dressed all day. . . Working nude from home the past six years has only reinforced our desire to live out the rest of our lives as full-time nudists.” – NoCollarWorker

“Clothes largely cut off the experience of pleasurable sensations of the skin.  Natural skin sensation, the play of air, sun, and wind upon the body, can be very pleasurable.   . . The nudist movement almost certainly reflects the desire for more freedom of communication through the skin.” -  Ashley Montagu, anthropologist, https://naturistphilosopher.wordpress.com/2016/06/07/is-there-a-human-need-for-being-naked/

“In the hypothetical world permitting licensed or registered ‘Permanent Nudity’ individuals voluntarily sign-up for a period of nudity and are legally bound and required to appear everywhere nude . . . As a government protected lifestyle, participants may not be harassed, arrested, discriminated against or denied opportunities to work in any position for which they are otherwise qualified.  Permanently nude women now occupy a variety of retail and governmental positions and Human Resources departments have struggled to update policy sheets, websites, bulletin boards and new hire orientation briefings.  Terms of voluntary Permanent Nudity can last as briefly as two weeks, a month . . . This is undoubtedly the most sensational social development of the twenty-first century!  Impact to clothing and fashion industries has so far been described as negligible.  [Is this real – No]” – Centauri4, http://outgoingnudist.tumblr.com/post/115846906642/centauri4-naturism-in-the-hypothetical-world

QUOTES 3/26/2018

“I freehiked (March 12, 2011) to the Indian Caves, east of El Paso, Texas.  While not deep, these natural depressions in the cliffs are interesting.  Unfortunately, they have been ‘junked up’ by people, and the only obvious petroglyph has been nearly destroyed.  The caves are only a short hike from the main dirt road, so I started some distance past the main cave road and then worked my way on less used dirt roads along the base of the hills until I reached the caves.  This is definitely a weekday freehike since many people use this area for target practice on weekends.” - Kenfreehike

“I went down to New York today and on my way back, right after I passed back over the border into Canada, I pulled off on a side road in the country, got out of my truck and stripped down naked right in the road, and drove all the way home like that.  It felt awesome.  Sun was shining brightly.  When I was off the highway, I had the windows down too to enjoy the fresh air.” - Always Naked

“I always drive to the Keys naked. . . Beyond Marathon the road is almost all 2-lane.  I wrapped a sarong around me, got out and put the top down, secured my shorts in the armrest compartment and my sandals in the glove compartment.  Once I got going, the sarong came off.  What an amazing feeling.  The breeze was fantastic, and the scenery was that much more beautiful - water more azure, trees greener.  Wow.  Actually, it's pretty much the same sensation as when I hike naked.  My senses were heightened - no doubt about it.  I am not foolish about these things, and when I went through one inhabited area that had a stop light, of course I wrapped the sarong around me temporarily.  But the fun part was that I only had to do that for a minute or two the whole way.  Redressed just before Key West.” - Al

“Braless and even top-free are becoming more common each day.  It’s about time.” – Philip, http://nudisuzie.com/2016/08/my-free-the-nipple-summer/

“When I go hiking I try to be the first one on the trail, usually starting before daylight, that way I know that there is no one in front of me.  I tend to hike fast so no one usually passes me.  I carry shorts that I will be able to pull over my shoes very quickly.  I have never run into someone on the trail I was on before. . . Free hiking is fun but it all depends on how risky you want it to be.  The more-risky it is, seems to me, the more about exhibition than nudism the hike really is.” – Hoosier, https://www.truenudists.com/members/blogs/

QUOTES 3/24/2018

“The only way some of us will ever live in what we consider to be a perfect world is if those of us who promote nonsexual nudism keep spreading the word that there is no reason that we should ever, ever, ever, ever, ever be ashamed of our bodies, and what God gave us! . . . I feel like maybe if I say it enough times, the right person will hear it or see it, and help me and all the other nudists around the world take action. . . when you're a nudist, living in a society with a whole bunch of people who were trapped in the textile world, explaining to them the freedom and liberation that comes along with being a nudist can seem pretty daunting . . . The solution is going to require all of the nudists around the world to band together and fight for what we believe . . . It's my hope that one day when I get ready to have kids I'll be able to tell them that they don't have to wear clothes if they don't want to, and they will still be accepted and loved by society just as everyone else is. . . will that happen in my lifetime?  Maybe, maybe not.  Who knows.  I can tell you one thing for sure though.  We've got to start somewhere. . . I truly believe that if we fight long enough and hard enough for what we truly believe, we just may see a change.  If we don't fight, and we just accept that this is the way a society is, will we ever know whether it could have been different?” - Danielle

“If you wear clothes while you work out [exercise] you don’t give your skin enough air.  The human skin needs air to breathe and by covering up in restricted clothing, you’re actually weakening your skin by way of reabsorbing the toxins that are released from your body through sweat glands. . . being naked allows your body to release those toxins that would otherwise be contained. . . Wearing clothes when you work out can make you quit more quickly, simply because you’re too hot, too sweaty, and just can’t take it anymore.  Stripping down to nothing will allow your body to stay cool longer. . . It’s been said that if you spend 15 minutes in the nude every day your confidence is boosted 20%, so why not workout nude?” - http://blog.vritomartis.com/exercise-naked/

“So what is a nude vacation or nakation really like?  Well for starters it’s a lot of fun and a wonderful way to relax and enjoy time with your spouse.  Couples go on beach vacations all the time for together time and to leave the stress of work, kids and life at home.  So why not leave your bikini and swimming shorts at home too and discover why so many couples have found nude vacations to be the ultimate, secret getaway.  My wife and I have been going on nude vacations and getaways for nearly 20 years now, yet I wouldn’t call us nudist.  We have learned that vacationing in the buff is a wonderful way to enjoy our time together and relax.  And yes, it is better because we’re both naked.” - https://ourclothingoptionaltrips.wordpress.com/2015/11/10/no-shirt-no-shoes-no-clothes-no-problem-five-reasons-to-go-on-a-naked-vacation-this-winter/

“. . . naturism helps to increase confidence and self-esteem.  Once people shed their clothes they regard each other as equal individuals and pay little heed to status symbols.  People are accepted as themselves and they can truly relax.  The naturist philosophy encourages the acceptance of all people, no matter who they are or what they look like.  The lack of clothing exposes ALL of our bodies to others . . . Any status symbols have vanished with our clothes, so what your body looks like becomes irrelevant.  ‘You are YOU’, and basically, we are all the same underneath. . . Social nakedness quickly shows you that you are accepted for who you are not what you look like.  There is no need to worry about how your body compares with someone else’s.  Becoming a naturist is an excellent way to feel better about yourself because nobody takes any notice of your body shape. . . The best, most attractive outfit is actually: ‘NONE AT ALL’. You will gain more confidence and feel totally ‘comfortable in your skin’.” - http://livenaturism.com.ve/en/benefits-of-naturism/

QUOTES 3/21/2018

“Have you ever seen a toddler look ashamed of her body?  No, it’s impossible.  She’s all like LOOK AT MY BELLY HAHHAHAHAHA!  People smother her little body in love, and she knows in her little heart of hearts that there is absolutely nothing wrong with her.  The feeling of wrongness doesn’t come until later, when her psyche forms enough to realize that there are in fact hundreds, if not thousands, of things wrong with her, including the fact that she owes it to people to be sexy.  Each of us is born with an inherent sense of belonging and rightness in our physical form; it’s our birthright.  That sense gets snatched away however, and can disappear for years, or decades, or even your whole life, if you let it.” - http://jessikneeland.com/why-im-getting-naked-on-the-internet/

“I freehiked three times in the desert east of El Paso during the last part of February and the first part of March, 2011.   All three were morning hikes, from about 8:30 am to 10:30 am.  Morning is a wonderful time to freehike in the desert.  The sun on your nude body is warm, but not too hot, and the breezes are light and refreshing.  It’s too early for bothersome flies.  And best of all, morning is a great time for healthy exercise, and what could be healthier than freehiking, clearing you mind of the workplace stresses, and getting some all-over vitamin D?” - Kenfreehiker

“As soon as a person is able to be comfortable enough taking off their clothes socially with others who are also naked, then the additional social issues that we are navigating regarding beauty hierarchy, regarding social class, regarding gender expression—often those fall away because clothes are the big thing we are using to solidify all of those things.” – Kimberly Dark, http://www.humanistexperience.com/podcast/episode4/transcript/

Children who are raised as nudists (or in nude-friendly families) grow up to be adults who are comfortable with their bodies and their sexuality.” – Bill Peckenpaugh (bishop-abbot with the Independent Catholic Church of America), http://nudebeaches.co.nz/nudism_and_families.html

Badger Springs Freehike

Amy and I have been super busy lately, so we’ve decided to freehike together each Monday.  Yesterday (3/19/18) we freehiked the Badger Springs trail, just 35 minutes away.  (It was a little cool to freehike nearer home.)  We were disappointed to see four cars at the trailhead.  So, we started out clothed, but soon Amy decided it was a shame to hike that way and got naked.  I immediately followed unsuit.  Almost immediately after getting nude, we ran into a family (mom, dad, and two teenage boys from Colorado) up the hill taking photos, but oh well, we stayed natural.  When we reached the river, I took a photo of the family near the petroglyphs, and the mom took a photo of us (naked) as well.  Soon after the family headed down the river, another couple walked by and I apologized for our natural appearance, explaining we belonged to the nearby naturist resort.  They seemed totally unconcerned.  We enjoyed exploring along the river nude, and discovered another petroglyph were Amy took my photo.  On the way back, we ran across a couple from New Jersey.  Soon we returned to the car, and drove home.  In only three hours we’d enjoyed a wonderful time together freehiking, and also reconfirmed that very few people are concerned about naked bodies.

QUOTES 3/20/2018

“Just two years afterwards when my family went to a naturist holiday resort I met a lovely woman . . . Shona became my first long term partner . . . When she came to mum’s house on summer days she could be naked within 30 seconds!  That was when I found love!” - Patrick Thompson, http://www.naktiv.net/blog/1097/when-i-found-love-two/

“Nudists believe that the nude human body isn’t inherently sexual, dirty, or shameful.  It’s thoughts and actions that make it sexual.  In fact, a human body can be sexual while clothed.  But for some reason, people focus on the ‘naughty bits’ to determine if someone is being sexual.  If they can see your ‘naughty bits’, then they think it’s sexual.  But that’s absolutely not the case!  It’s absolutely possible for people to be nude around each other and have nothing to do with sex.  Nudists do it all the time!  They are nude together and it’s not about sex at all.  It’s about comfort, freedom, and acceptance.” - http://heartlandnaturists.tumblr.com/post/145935279923/a-lot-of-people-spend-time-nude-at-home-but-they

“Clothed is legitimate during cold or rainy weather, when it’s windy, protection from natural forces, to have safety when cooking, and to protect from physical hazards.  As for other things, being clothed serves no purpose.” - https://rfgjga1992.wordpress.com/2016/04/28/lets-do-all-this-to-promote-nudism/

“Since getting involved with naturism, nudism, social nudity—whatever you want to call it—I’ve found the practice invigorating, exciting, healthful and just plain fun.  The one thing I haven’t found—in true naturist circles—is a practice that violates morality.  There is nothing immoral in simple, human nakedness in a social context.” – Tom Pine, Newdsletter, vol. 17, #5, May 2016
