“Here’s a selection of top nude resorts in the Caribbean. . . The Natural, Curacao - While some
resorts have the distinction of being the only clothing-optional property on
the island, The Natural can broaden that boast with its claim to being the only
au naturel resort on the ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao. The Natural on Curacao welcomes all types:
couples, singles and GLBT guests – the only restriction is a minimum age of 16
years old. Unlike some naturist resorts,
guests don’t have to shed their clothes; they have the option of staying
covered up, even if they’re outnumbered.
The
Natural makes no pretenses of being five-star and
guestrooms and amenities are on the modest side. The big selling point is the resort’s
laidback, accepting ambience.” - Mark Rogers, http://experience.usatoday.com/caribbean/best-of-caribbean/caribbean-in-the-buff-top-nude-resorts/9879267/

“When I became a nudist 20 years ago, I definitely had
body issues as I was always about 30-pounds overweight. My first visit to a nudist park changed my
perspective. I realized that no matter
how ‘big’ or ‘small’ I was, there was always someone thinner or heavier. I suddenly felt much more comfortable with my
body. Now I am always the first to
disrobe and the last to get dressed. – Helen, http://femalenaturist.blogspot.com/search/label/Nude%20Recreation%20From%20A%20Woman%27s%20Perspective
“It is the opinion of this writer that if the clothes
free life is to be normalized there needs to be more high quality expression of

“I have always been interested in being a nudist and
have always loved being nude. I had my
first experience at a nudist club in my early twenties. I loved it.
It is not a sexual thing, it is the freedom and liberation that I
love. The feeling of air on my
skin. When I have no choice but to wear
clothing I do it without underwear, in fact I don't even own any underwear.” –

“Caribbean in the buff: Don’t miss these nude
excursions . . . The Mak Nuk naturist condo community near Tulum is a newcomer
to the clothing-optional scene in Mexico and they have some new ideas for
bare-bottom adventurers. These include a
trip to a jungle cenote for some skinny dipping. Cenotes are roughly circular sinkholes filled
with spring water. The water is cool — a
constant 75 degrees year-round — and gin clear.
There’s a rope swing and plenty of screening foliage around the rim.” -

“Many people refuse to go nude because they feel that
their height, weight, build, features, etc. are unacceptable. There is no need to feel that you must
conform to a standard of beauty or acceptability, especially one you had no
part in creating. Naturists come in all
shapes, sizes, colors, ages, and beliefs.
Naturists have even undergone surgeries, mastectomies, etc., and have
the scars to prove it (many have said that naturism helped them further accept
these scars). In naturism, there is no
ideal of the perfect body other than yourself.
If you can accept yourself for what you are, you will have no problem
overcoming your perceived imperfections.” – Jessica. http://femalenaturist.blogspot.com/search/label/Young%20Female%20Nudists
“Sadly I have observed quite a rapid decline in the
number of naturist families in recent years.

“Each morning, I take a completely bare excursion out
the front door. Usually, I climb up onto
the sun-drenched slab of granite. The
concrete patio is flat, shaded and cold.
The natural granite is better and gives my body something to play
with. The sun feels great, even if there
is a nip to the temperature, or a wind, or a breeze that captures me, sometimes
shockingly. I feel alive, and I gauge
what I might put on to wear during my travels into town.” – Jbee, http://freerangenaturism.com/forum/index.php?topic=675.15;topicseen

fact ‘normality’, with all mystique removed . . . it seems that the adolescent
male, through naturism, has much of his curiosity answered in grown up
understanding what an adult or adolescent female looks like naked. . . this
leads to a greater sense of respect for females. People growing up naturist appear to have a

“I will start by talking about my personal
embarrassments and one of my favorite places — the Niagara YMCA (Young ‘Men’s’
Christian Association). . . most of us swam in the nude. . . I’d shower and
enter the pool for my laps. . . My routine was to run into the mostly empty
pool room and immediately dive from the diving board and into the pool to
immediately overcome the shock of the temperature change. Then I would do my laps. Thusly, I raced in to do what I always did on
that particular Wednesday . . . I opened the door and ran out onto the diving
board. Despite the rough surface of the
diving board, I slid nearly to the end of it before coming to a complete stop,
nearly falling into the water before I turned, horrified, and raced back into
the sanctity of the men’s shower room.
There was a different atmosphere in the pool that day. Usually there were just a couple of nude
swimmers taking their laps or lounging in the Jacuzzi; but this time, the room
was unusually filled with both color and noise.
There were blues, yellows, greens, reds, pinks and purple one-piece and
two-piece bathing suits, both in and out of the water. The underlying noise consisted of the bass
laughter of men and boys - while the shrilling voices of soprano mothers, and
the alto shrieks of their little girls echoed and amplified off the room’s
tiled walls. It was Family Night at the
‘Y,’ and there I had stood on the diving board, as the saying goes, as naked as
a jay bird. . . That was the most embarrassing moment of my life and it took me
months before I returned to the Y. But I
did return, and always with a pair of swimming trucks.” – Ken Hamilton, Niagara

“I agree that we come to know ourselves a bit better
through seeing ourselves in photos, whether nude or clothed. Personally, I share pictures of myself naked
because I feel it’s an opportunity to ‘put my money where my mouth is.’ If I preach the belief that the natural human
body is nothing to be ashamed of (and I do), then how can I justify treating my
nude images differently from how I would treat pictures of myself fully
dressed? I believe that glutting the
internet with images of non-sexual, non-idealized, nudity is a way to normalize
both seeing others naked and allowing ourselves to be seen.” – Andy, http://rglongpre.ca/naturistlens/2017/01/02/selfies-nourishment-for-the-naked-soul/

“. . . change
rarely happens swiftly, particularly in an area such as nudism or naturism. . .
that lack of forcing the lifestyle comes part of the reason why the naturist
movement will be slow to be accepted.
I’ve found naturists to be among some of the most laid back and relaxed
people I’ve ever met. . . And because of that laid back, relaxed approach,
there probably isn’t the forceful push to promote the lifestyle that might get
things rolling. In an ironic
counterbalance, the laid back approach to everything adopted by naturists could
well be the reason that naturism isn’t promoted as much as it could be. So to those who wait, be patient. Like the proverbial snowball down a hill,
naturism and nudism will gather momentum and grow larger. It’s just a matter of being patient and
living life as best as can be in the interim.” - https://beunmasked.org/2016/08/27/to-those-who-wait/

Will that freak you out?’
Obviously, she knew I clearly enjoyed being naked, but I had never

“I was reading about Naturism as it arose as a
philosophical movement in 19th century Germany and part of the background was
that German naturism claimed communal nudity had a sexually liberating element
about it and that was ok and not to be shamed.
Not that naturists were swingers or ogling each other, it was promoted
as a safe and healthy family activity but when it was exported to Britain, who
were notably more conservative in culture there began a campaign to strip it of
any association with sexuality and etiquette was created for hiding accidental
erections and such which were formerly just accepted as a normal bodily
reaction to be ignored.” – Daisyboob, https://www.reddit.com/r/nudism/comments/5kff24/nudism_needs_to_burn_itself_and_rebuild/

“’I’m 59 years old—I am not going to a nude
beach.’ The . . . surprise was the
variety of people present. On the whole
beach, I could see only one supermodel-type, and the rest were just regular
people with regular bodies, from their early twenties up in to their
seventies. The majority were middle
aged. Some people had tattoos, but most
seemed pretty vanilla. This was not a
beach full of wild, sex-crazed swingers or perfectly toned and tanned workout
goddesses—these were just normal people, enjoying the sun, the waves, and the
sand, just without bathing suits. So I
joined them. . . . . . The longer I spent on that sunny judgment-free
afternoon, the more I felt light, free, and relaxed. I even chatted, still completely bare, with
fellow sunbathers and a cute park ranger.
No one else seemed interested about their bodies or mine, it was all
about feeling free of the stigma of body image and enjoying the ocean, sun, and
the wildlife. . . I was so sure that I never wanted to visit a nude beach
before I tried it, but now feel like I never want to go back to a non-nude
beach again. Allowing myself to be so vulnerable empowered me.” – Sandra

“The problem about the word 'nudist' is that it puts
all the focus on the visual aspect of being nude which is no doubt why it has
more negative connotations, whereas it is more about simply being 'clothes
free', natural, in a state of vulnerability, without the facade that we
habitually carry around. It feels good. Being naked in nature is to me part of being
a naturist . . . The trouble with labels is that they tend to pigeonhole us
with other people's perceptions.
'Clothes free' is a good term as it appears to carry no connotations
other than freedom from clothes, but can't be used in the same way.” – MartinM,

“I felt it imperative to listen to the voice in my
heart and make some significant changes in my life. . . I’ve had to clean up a
lot of relationships, because I had spent so many years wearing long underwear
around my personality in a desperate attempt to accommodate everyone, that I
wound up living lie after lie. I wasn’t
being honest with family, friends, or colleagues. I had forgotten who I was and what I look
like even to myself. Thank goodness, my
clothes free life, bit by bit, undressed these layers. As I began to reckon with who I truly am, I
had to, then, come clean with others.
So, I initiated a lot (A LOT) of difficult and uncomfortable

listened to people share their anger and frustration about me with me without

“I am sure we judge people on first impressions, and in
the textile world we take in what they are wearing as much, or more so, than
their character and temperament. . . As naturists, we are generally in our own
skin rather than displaying our financial status and comparing designer labels
with supermarket specials and becoming quite materialistic and competitive with
each other. This creates a much nicer atmosphere, with no-one stressing out
over what they can or can’t afford and no-one casting sly glances to see what
someone else is wearing and hoping they don’t turn up in the same outfit. . .
being naturist . . . seems to instantly make us all equal. It removes this competitive nature so maybe
it removes the stress of trying to look good and impressing people and you
relax, safe in the knowledge that everyone accepts you as you are; in your own
skin.” – Roni Fine, http://www.bn.org.uk/articles.php/_/information/about-naturism/roni-writes/is-it-really-true-that-clothes-maketh-the-man-r166
“In June of 1999, the city of Toronto opened its first
‘Clothing Optional’ beach. . . My friends Chumsie and Erica and I wanted to
go. I would sometimes go nude in my
apartment, but this would be the first time I had ever gone totally nude in
public. Two weeks later we made the
two-hour drive . . . Looking around I saw several others with beach bags who
were heading to the same beach. . . Finally, we set up our blankets and
towels. Erica was the first to get
undressed. She seemed to have no
hesitation in getting out of her swimsuit! . . . As soon as the towels and
blankets were spread out I decided to undress. . . After a short while we no
longer thought of ourselves as being naked... it felt so natural that we just
started walking around and later played Frisbee! One guy in shorts came along and joined in our
game. He later sat and chatted with us.
. . We decided to go for a walk along the water's edge. The water was still pretty cold and only a
very few people were actually in the lake but the sandy beach part was pretty
crowded. . . Adrian, Chumsie, Erica and I spent the rest of the afternoon
playing Frisbee, walking along the beach, munching on snacks and just having a
relaxing time. By late afternoon it had
clouded over and it started getting a little cool so we started to pack up. . .
We were back...two weeks later! And we
were there almost every weekend that summer.
We joined the nudist group and started going to their monthly swims. . .
To anyone who is afraid to go to a nude beach I say GET OVER IT! Just go.

“Almost everyone, when asked about why they are a
naturist, will respond with the explanation of why they like to be naked. They feel free, they feel comfortable, they
feel better about themselves, they feel more natural or connected to nature. .
. Those are all good reasons, great reasons, to take off your clothes and go
naked. But you don’t need to be a social
naturist to do that. If the only reason
you are doing it is because you like to be naked, you don’t need to go to
anywhere special. You don’t need to
travel far and spend money going to a club or a swim or a beach. You can just leave your clothes off at home

“I was fresh out of college in early 70's but had not
lived the 'flower child' life here in conservative Midwest. But a college field trip to the southwest
gave me my first chance to let loose. . . in a nice cool creek down in the
Grand Canyon of Arizona. Cool water was
so refreshing after uphill hike with heavy backpacks. There were a couple hesitant girls who kept
t-shirts and undies on, but that didn't stop them from going in the water to
frolic with all the rest of us nudies.
You could see from the look in their eyes that they really envied us
being naked, but something still kept them from going for it, despite all the
encouragement we shouted at them. . . The longer we were naked, the more at
ease all were. Women stopped trying to
hold a hand over their breasts or pubic areas, and . . . we all found the
comfort of warm rocks to lay out and sun-dry.
Our hike out and return trip was nothing like that day naked in the
water. I have no idea how many others
were won over, but I certainly was sure I'd find myself naked and in the sun
soon again. Yearly return trips for me
for a decade down to the canyon were scheduled each summer. Spent every trip finding new waterfalls and
pools to play naked in, and I always managed to fine another 'noob' somewhere
along the trail to convince to come along on my side trips to 'find the
freedom' too.” – Mark, Illinois, http://aanr.com/first-time-nudist-experience#content
