“People say seeing female breasts is harmful to
children. This is not true. Children need breasts for nourishment and
comfort. What is harmful to children is
watching their parents apply disparate standards to men and women, and making
girls cover up while not making boys cover up.
Violence and hate harm children more than anything, but we don’t censor
those.” - https://breastsarehealthy.wordpress.com/2017/01/02/why-i-walk-bare-chested-where-men-dont/
“. . . for me, another important part lies in the type
of language you choose to use. ‘I am a
naturist,’ is a statement about your identity, your nature. On the other hand, ‘I like to go around
without clothes,’ is just a statement about something you enjoy. ‘I am’ is very strong language; ‘I like,’ and
‘I prefer,’ are much gentler and less threatening - especially to parents, who
probably have quite a strong idea about who you are and what they want you to
be. . . People find it hard to tell you are wrong when you are only telling
them what you like, what you enjoy and what you prefer.” – Sauna Chap
“I live in a wilderness. I tell people who come here and complain that
this is God’s country. If they hate God
and can't stand the sight of his creations, then they should go back to Arabia
or New York City, there's nothing natural there. We don't wear clothes at home, and if
strangers don't like it they don't have to come here. – Trinitycaveman, https://www.truenudists.com/forum/viewthread.php?id=18971&page=
“Try to do your gardening work
while naked, and you will definitely feel more confident.” – Rupa, https://twitter.com/Rupa2106/status/749607745154801664
“. . . trying to sleep in the sweltering summer night
while dressed in PJ’s. The clothes stick
to your skin, the blanket makes you feel like you’re in an oven, so you kick it
off and turn the A/C on only to discover you are now freezing because of the
sweat created from wearing too many clothes.
The next 2 hours are spent trying to find a happy medium- one leg and
arm exposed from the blanket, socks off, fan on, A/C off, etc. until your body
regulates it temperature low enough to give you some rest. This can be avoided by sleeping wearing
nothing. It feels great, really. You don’t have to worry about sweating in the
middle of the night due to clothing.” – Raven Fon, http://iheartintelligence.com/2016/04/11/benefits-sleeping-naked/

“I have touched over 550 naked (or nearly naked)
people in the last year because of my job.
One thing that my job as a massage therapist has taught me is that: our
bodies are all beautiful because they sustain our life, and house our souls.” –
B, https://projectnaked.org/2016/09/22/sarah-hester-naked-in-the-woods/
“With drones and surveillance cameras everywhere, we
will soon have no more ’empty’ spaces, and every movement and moment will be
observed and recorded somewhere, somehow.
Urban nudism truly is the future, if there is one, because soon there
will be no true wilderness left. If
naturism is to flourish and grow, then ‘innocent’ had better not mean ‘lacking
knowledge or understanding’, because then a word best used to describe naturism
would be ‘extinct’.” - http://artdayonline.org/dailyart_201601/
[At the Bristol WNBR] “My biggest fear was how other
people might feel about it . . . My concerns proved to be groundless. The worst reaction was a blank stare, but the
overwhelming majority cheered, laughed and interacted with the protesters
enthusiastically. It made me realize
that nobody is bothered by nakedness . . . but become concerned when motives are
unclear.” - RalphW, http://www.naturist-corner.net/community/index.php?topic=22186.0;topicseen
“Yes, in our modern world there are issues with
nudity. However, the issues are not
based on rational, psychological, or spiritual foundations. . . Somehow, as a
society, it is much better to be traumatized by bare skin, to be ashamed of the
body we are born with, of not meeting up with the media created notion of what a
human body, suitably clothed in designer outfits, should look like. No one questions the absurdity of being held
hostage by industry that needs us to be clothed in order to reap profits. Somehow we are being convinced that our
bodies are unacceptable. And as a
result, we become depressed, angry, sad, and even fearful of a world that
really doesn’t like people.” – Skyclad, http://rglongpre.ca/naturistlens/2017/01/30/aching-to-be-authentic/
“SA is home to Australia’s oldest and most popular
bare beach event, now called the Pilwarren Maslin Beach Nude Games. In January each year, hundreds of people come
from far and wide to drop their duds . . . for events such as balloon carrying,
baton, frisbee and the three-legged race. . . How astonishing that an event
such as this that allows adults and kids to get their gear off and parade
around in public is even allowed to take place these days. . . The Nude Games
has had no doping scandals, no late-night high jinks from athletes, no diva
tantrums and no failed drug tests. It’s
just good clean nude family fun.” – Susie O’Brian, http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/lifestyle/sa-lifestyle/bottoms-up-lets-toast-going-bare-if-you-dare/news-story/d23b6f16d63bd374d40cd47a0d658f9e

Freehiking Gear List From David
Ken,
I recognize that you are stressing Freehiking as a Theme over some time period.
I saw an article on a "Day Hike Gear Check List" and I thought to myself, why not a Freehiking Gear List?
So, I decided to create my own and thought I would share it with you, There are certainly additional considerations that could be added but to keep the article to a single page I think I covered the main essentials.
If you think it is worthy of sharing, you have my permission to use it or modify it as you see fit.
Freehiking Gear List
“BlueSkyTanin”
There are those who prefer to Freehike absolutely naked, and
without even any foot protection. There are others who can be seen with full
backpacks, camera gear hanging around their necks, a shirt or jacket tied about
their waist, hiking boots, thick knee socks, hat, scarf and 87 other items tied
to or hanging from their 40-pound pack.
With this in mind, let’s consider Several Levels of Freedom that
you may want to consider.
1.
The Purist – Totally Naked and Barefoot
2.
Those who only want to wear Footwear
3.
Those who may consider carrying only a cover-up
or water bottle in their hand
4.
Those who would consider being adorned by a
fanny pack or shoulder bag
5.
Those who carry a small day pack to a full-blown
backpack
For each of the above categories, items such as a Hat,
Headband, Sunglasses, Shoulder Bag, Walking Sticks or an item tied around the
waist such as a shirt may or may not be used.
So, to each their own.
After all, naturism is all about individualism, choosing our own way and
being tolerant and accepting of others – Right?
There may be certain things that you simply want or need to
carry. There may be good reasons that
you have for carrying certain items. What
items might be important to you?

Certainly,
the distance you plan on traveling or the length of time that you plan to be
gone are important considerations on what you need to take with you and thus
the size of your pack. An overnight stay
just compounds the amount of gear that needs to be transported.
All
of these individual considerations will determine what level of freedom you may
be able to achieve while Freehiking.

“I enjoyed my first haircut at the resort. The female stylist and I were both
naked. Afterwards, I just rinsed the
hair off with the garden hose. When was
the last time you’ve gotten a nude hug from your barber? This was an enjoyable first for me. Just one more aspect of living life the way
it was meant to be. The nude life is
good.” – Kenfreehiker
“Working in the yard last year, digging it up, I began
to shed my shorts until I eventually decided to not even put them on
anymore. I came inside one day, showered
and just decided not to get dressed afterward.
Have not been the same since. I
love this way of life.” - Jim
“I had been skinny dipping, sun tanning, and soaking
in hot tubs nude for a long time, but had never considered just being in the
house naked. Then one year on my
birthday I decided to try to wear just my ‘birthday suit’ all day. That did it.” – BareOnTheCape
“It's really nice to get out of bed and not bother
putting your clothes on. You're not restricted, you're actually less
inhibited.” – Margaret D.
“After spending $500 a month on A/C, we felt there
must be a better way to cope with the heat.
My husband, of Swedish descent, said, 'Let's just be nudists in
summer.' We haven't looked back.” -
Hilton Head Nudist Family, http://nudistscorp.com/Family-Nudist.htm
“I have driven naked many times. . . most of my
commute is on back roads so not much traffic at that time of day. I keep a towel handy in case I need to cover
up, having only to do so only once while at a stoplight when a semi stopped
next to me. I am always the first to
arrive at my work and open the place, so I can dress in the parking lot or as I
like to do I'll go in and start my morning routine in the buff and wait to
dress just before the others start arriving.” – Nakkidnfl
“Being in a social nude environment . . . causes us to
become in touch with the surroundings.
We’ll never forget the first time we felt the air and sun on our entire
body. The
sensation of ‘being alive’ was heightened and the awareness of the world around
became enhanced.” - http://www.oursunhome.com/christian_nudist.htm

“The obsession of religions for women's bodies is the
most crazy, the most bizarre. It is
extremely violent to be born and to live in a body in which each part is
defined, codified and controlled before you have begun to think about it. A woman's body is capable of so much more
than what religions claim.” - Inna Shevchenko, https://charliehebdo.fr/blaspheme/les-religions-ont-un-serieux-probleme-avec-les-femmes/

“Contrary to what most people believe, clothing
focuses attention on sexuality. In
today’s society, partial clothing is considered very sexually stimulating . . .
This has led to increase of immature forms of sexuality in the society, leading
to immorality. Naturism on the other
hand, focuses the attention on the acceptance of the body and its
imperfection. Shedding of all clothes
makes people become familiar with a nakedness, which helps to reduce curiosity
and enchantment that is common with partial clothing. This helps people who engage in naturism lifestyle
to become more mature sexually.” - http://blog.vritomartis.com/benefits-of-naturism/
“It’s really disheartening how so many people have the
wrong idea about nudism. So we sadly
have to accept some anti-nudity laws - they are unethical in that they
criminalize a state of being. . . the aim of each real confident nudist, a
clothing free society like ‘garden eden’, is far away.” – http://centauri4-naturism.tumblr.com/post/157732586346/a-freedom-lifestyle-why-be-a-nudist
“People who live the nudist lifestyle are saying to
the world ‘I am more than my body. I am
a human being. See me and love me for
all that I am.’ People who live the
nudist lifestyle are the living antithesis of pornography.” - https://timothyach.wordpress.com/2015/12/06/nudism-and-the-problem-with-pornography/
“Nudity in natural places is the best way to enjoy
them; it’s the most natural way to be.
Given the chance when its warm enough the only way I want to be is nude.”

“It’s not ALL THINGS SEX ALL THE TIME in the textile
world so why would it be in the naturism/nudism world just because there aren’t
clothes? That’s just silly to think so.”

“Suits in our spa?
Yeah, right! We tell our guests
that they are free to do whatever they want so long as they don't mind seeing
other people naked. Of the 21 different

“I had always had a very poor personal body image – I
hated the way that I looked! . . . I was being cheated on regularly, and . . .
blamed myself for not being attractive enough to keep him from straying. . .
Then, about a year or so ago, I worked up the courage to take a trip with a
close friend of mine. . . She claimed that social nudity helped her accept and
feel better about her own body. I of
course, thought the entire thing was weird and worried that there would be
harsh sexual overtones and awkwardness. . . I felt uncomfortable at the nude
beach for a few minutes . . . I was persistent to see if this in fact would
help me. My friend was walking
confidently and quickly introduced me to some people . . . it felt like these
nudist girls and guys weren’t even looking at me sexually or judging me at
all. In fact, I was complimented on how
beautiful my face was twice! It did not
take long for me to find my stride with naturism. I soon began hanging out with more of them
that I met through social nudity groups and websites . . . It is freeing. I feel confident in how I look. Being nude, especially in a social setting,
makes me feel happy. I feel like I do
not to hide behind clothes. . . It was a liberating and life altering
experience for me. I feel freer than
ever . . . I have come to accept my own personal body image!” - https://youngnaturistsamerica.com/social-nudity-cured-my-body-image-struggles/
