“Naturism is a healing experience, and makes you completely happy.” – Kensunwalker

QUOTES 2/28/2019

“Personally, I am a pantheist and I am happy to commune with the spirits of animals, trees, plants, stones, celestial bodies – anything.  There is an ash tree in a nearby nature reserve that I have an ongoing relationship with. This morning . . . I had a mind to go to see this tree.  I also had a strong feeling that it would be best if I made my way there totally naked.  So I did. . . I felt a great strength come from him to me, for which I am very thankful.  He also gave me an insight . . . Sometimes when I see my tree there is nothing going on, no connection.  This time, when I went there naked, it was a very powerful connection. The lesson I take from this is that I have to be naked to commune with the spirits and trees.  Another lesson is that being naked, even on a frosty March morning, makes me feel happy and wonderful.” - Agustus, http://www.nakedrambler.org/the_church_of_the_great_bare.html

“It’s absurd for your naked body to be hidden behind censorship squares in order for it to be seen.  It’s absurd to think of your naked humanity as something unnatural.  It’s absurd to think of you (exactly as you are) as anything less that a true work of art.  Your body has been shaped by the same creative dynamics that shaped the world. . . without shame. . . The entire universe has acted in concert — from the beginning — to create the conditions for you to be here… exactly as you are.  The only thing that is obscene — in the contemplation of your naked humanity — is the idea that you’re somehow obscene. . . that you should be ashamed to either enjoy beauty in others … or to be held as beautiful … in the eyes of others. . . Is it not a miracle that there’s a human body through which you’re experiencing your life… right now?  Wake up from the collective hypnosis that tells you that your naked humanity should be shamed or hidden from sight.  Wake up from the hypnosis that would have you ashamed of appreciating the beauty of another human being.  Wake up from the hypnosis that tells you . . . that you are anything less than a miraculous work of art.” – David Bollt, https://nudeverywhere.wordpress.com/2016/03/09/your-naked-body-is-not-a-crime-is-nude-art-obscene/

“We live in New Mexico and are members of a nudist Resort in Az.  We make the 450-mile trip 7 or 8 times a year.  We drive it naked every time except the coldest, snowy days in winter.  I do put cloths on to get out and pump gas. . . my wife sets in the truck naked.  If someone comes close she covers her breasts.  It is great fun, and a fun way to spend the time driving.  Most of our trips are during the day.” – Nudist1954, https://www.truenudists.com/forum/viewthread.php?id=860&page=5

Saddle Mountain Freehike & El Dorado Hot Springs

Only three naturists attended, but still we had a great time.

Amy, Joel, and I drove down to Saddle Mountain Tuesday February 27th.  The weather was ‘perfect’ - sunny, in the mid-60s.  Walking naked up a dirt road, near the base of Saddle Mountain felt great, the sun with a slight breeze encompassing our entire bodies (except feet of course).  The hike was moderately easy.  The scenery was marvelous!

We stopped occasionally to take photos of the scenery and our naked selves.  The poppies were blooming.  A circular natural-bridge could be seen near the top of a hill.  It was a special place and memory.

After hiking for several miles, we returned to the car and then stopped at El Dorado Hot Springs for a naked soak.  This was our first visit.  Matt (the owner) checked us in.  Birds and even pigs were in the entrance yard.  The naked area was separated from other soaking and camping areas.  The cost was only $10 for the hour we needed to relax our muscles.  The natural hot spring water was clear, though I understand it contains healthy minerals.  The natural temperature was about 102 degrees – perfect for a long soak.  The naked area contained two group tubs, and five single tubs.  We enjoyed talking with several other guys who were soaking, even on a Tuesday.

After soaking, we stopped for a burger lunch.

All in all, we had a wonderful day freehiking near Saddle Mountain and soaking a El Dorado Hot Springs.  Those who couldn’t attend definitely missed something special.  We would recommend this trip to everyone – maybe in the future.

Here is what other attendees said:

“After a nice easy and scenic hike in the desert of about 3 or 4 miles we went to Eldorado Hot Spring and were pleased the entrance fee was only $10 per hour.  The temperature of the pools were at an awesome 102 deg.  An hour was all we needed!  On the way home we had dinner at historic Rock Springs Cafe!  What a great day!” – Joel

“After spending 5 days snowbound in our home, this day was just what the doctor ordered!  The sun was shining, the temperature was perfect, the wildflowers were blooming, and the mountains were beautiful.  Naked hikes allow me to fully experience life through ALL of my senses.  The freedom of feeling the sun and the breeze on my entire body is indescribably delicious!  Drinking in the beauty and sounds (it was blissfully quiet) of my surroundings while naked causes me to feel at one with nature.  Relaxing in the hot tub at El Dorado Hot Springs was a nice addition to our day.  This is a day I definitely would love to repeat and be able to share with many more of you.” - Amy

[In Sri Lanka] “Some women used to walk around completely topless in our villages without anyone caring before the 19th century and nudity was always considered as a natural and wholesome thing even within the royalty, and was also very heavily connected to our art and performances throughout our ancient history.  It was after the British invasion that things began to change with the people readily adopting the new Victorian moralities.  However other problems like misunderstood religious and cultural stigmas . . . have sadly meant that people have come to view nudity as something that is ugly and when it’s needed, to be an extremely personal thing.” – Nick and Lins quoting Madushan, 23 years young, from Sri Lanka, http://www.nakedwanderings.com/2016/09/22/the-naturist-talks-madushan-from-sri-lanka/

“. . . there are many scientifically valid reasons for us to do away with clothes. . . clothes cause problems.  Look at the long history of clothes being used as a tool of oppression and control, often resulting in political problems.  If we didn’t have clothes, we wouldn’t have the means to use them to make people’s lives harder. . . clothes have probably held back human advancement significantly.” – Dean Burnett, https://www.theguardian.com/science/brain-flapping/2016/aug/25/beyond-burkinis-why-science-suggests-all-clothes-should-be-banned

“In the third state of nudity, you do not realize you are naked, you are just like you are and it feels comfortable.  This is up to a point that, if you’re home and somebody rings the doorbell, you may open the door naked, or you want to fetch mail and you go to your letter box entirely naked, with potentially all neighbors being able to see you.  And this is where, some nudists, like myself, are frustrated by laws that forbid us to be naked when and where we want, not because we are exhibitionists, just because nudity is a normal and natural state for us.  This is the state I am in almost every time I am naked, should it be at home, at the beach, at a nudist resort or on a hiking trail, or like now, while typing this post on my computer.  While I cannot explain why nudity feels so good, I embraced nudism years ago now and it just feels great to me.” - https://nuetheureux.wordpress.com/2015/04/07/the-3-states-of-nudity-on-becoming-a-nudist/

“I think people aren't going to these [nude] parties because they want to experience others.  I think they're going to express themselves and this is a great way for them to come out of their shell or express a side of them they don't normally get to express . . .” - Chris Fariello

“Christianity’s own seminal myth about the origin of the world is a story in which clothing functions as a sign of sin and distance from the Godhead.  Adam and Eve’s fig leaf is double-edged, signaling both the end of an idyllic human existence and the birth of a distinctly human culture.” - http://theconversation.com/friday-essay-the-naked-truth-on-nudity-66763

“. . . the biggest obstacle to getting more nude venues for recreation is the closet. . . People in the closet don't write letters, they don't picket, they don't protest.  They don't even fully exercise the freedom they do have.  Their friends and family don't know about it and can't say, I know John Doe and he's a nudist and he's a cool guy, so I guess it's OK.  Often they won't even answer anonymous surveys accurately, let alone sign a petition, contribute advocacy money or be interviewed by media.  The actual opposition to designating a small number of areas as clothing optional suffer from none of these problems.” – AuNaturelOne, https://www.truenudists.com/groups/view.php?action=viewthread&id=226&idt=108359&page=last

“Freehiking is a wonderful stress reliever.  I walked up the Olive Dell Nature Trail and realigned a few rocks that the wild donkeys had kicked aside.  Then I hiked the Picnic Table Loop Trail.  Along the way I enjoyed seeing new-growth vegetation and birds and seven wild donkeys – the views from the top were breathtaking.  I walked back along the other half of the Nature Trail.  When I returned, I had nearly forgotten the stresses at work – what a relief.  Freehiking is my mental and physical meditation.  Healthy physical exercise, mental healing, spiritual peace - freehiking revives my soul.” - Kenfreehiker

“So, here's how naked yoga works: You go in to a candlelit room, grab a mat and blocks and other yoga periphery, and then you sit and wait for the instructor . . . She comes in and yeah, she's muscled and fit and tiny, but when she tells you if you want to take your clothes off to go ahead, it doesn't feel like a challenge.  All but one of the women in my class got completely naked . . . We start the class.  I'm out of shape.  It's OK. . . it's actually awesome because I'm naked.  It's not an exhibitionist thing; it's that yoga, like swimming, sunbathing and sex, feels better naked.  By the time we're halfway through, I'm too absorbed in getting my heels down for downward facing dog to worry about whether my flat ass is in somebody's field of vision.  Somewhere along the way the one holdout removes her underwear.” - Cathy Salustri, http://www.cltampa.com/arts-entertainment/sports/article/20848395/nude-yoga-yup-nude-yoga

“I had a great naked hiking and camping experience last weekend at the Arizona (Ringbolt) Hot Springs, downstream from Hoover Dam. . . There were three of us, a 62-year old woman, a 46-year old man, and me, a 59 year old man.  We had never met but we bonded quickly and formed a pretty good team. . . We hiked in nude from the highway to the river (about 2 miles), then along the river to our camp spot below the main beach and camping area.  We encountered several groups along the way, but as usual, our nudity was not a problem. . . We spent the weekend getting in and out of the cold river, hiking to and soaking in the pools, and just generally hanging out in a beautiful area.  We were generally casual about our nudity and were seen by many people, including passing boaters, with no incidents.  At one point, a guy came walking down to where we were hanging out at the beach.  We invited him to join us, and he dropped his shorts and sat with us for a while. . . All in all, a great celebration of nudity and good companionship in the great outdoors!” – Canyon Hawk

Naked Life

What can you do when it snows over two feet?  How about insulating the garage naked.  I tried it and loved nearly every minute.

It's very comfortable and it's easy to forget you're naked when you're working.  And you do something productive.

I once knew a man who quit naturism because he found it made him lazy.  That's not the case with this approach to naturism.

QUOTES 2/24/2019

“Probably the easiest way to get used to not wearing clothes is to simply remain undressed after you take a shower.  Stay undressed as long as you can and enjoy the freedom of not having binding closing on.  If you shower in the evening after work, simply go about your evening as usual, doing your chores, watching TV, or whatever it is you do in the evening.” - http://wearlesslivemore.org/Start%20Living%20Clothes%20Free.htm

“I just have a problem when women (or others) suggest that covering up is a solution to ending sexual harassment, objectification or any sort of assault / violence against women. The people who suggest this clearly haven’t thought about this issue very deeply, but given the culture we live in, it shouldn’t be any surprise to hear it.” – Felicity Jones, http://youngnaturistsamerica.com/clothed-naked-online-women-still-not-asking-for-it/

“. . . running feels good.  At its best, it’s completely exhilarating.  Running unclothed adds an extra dimension: you’re in the wild, skin interacting with the sun and wind. . . The closest I’ve come to this is skinny-dipping in the ocean: as the waves rock you, every cell in your body remembers that long ago you and your species came from the sea.  Such experiences celebrate the amazing-ness of being here, fragile creatures on a beautiful, fragile planet. . . This was the meaning of the naked 5k . . .” - Liz Sheppard-Jones, http://thecroydoncitizen.com/politics-society/naked-croydon/

“I was vacationing at a resort in the Caribbean.  The first two days were spent on the beach sitting in a soggy swimsuit and being chafed by sand.  I signed up for a day boat trip and picnic at a beach on an island away from the resort.  As we were leaving, I discovered that the excursion was to an island with a nude beach!  I admit my first reaction was that this is something that was not an acceptable practice.  I decided to go anyway, thinking no way was anybody getting me out of my suit.  I stood firm, and, in fact, I was the last person to give in and shed my swimsuit – but I was also the last one to get dressed to return to the resort.  Why hadn't someone told me about this sooner?  Everyone will tell you that once you have made your first visit, the feeling of apprehension will vanish.  I was hooked, and that was over 30 years ago.  The phrase, ‘nude when possible, clothed when practical,’ definitely describes me.  I do wear shoes when vacuuming the house though, as I have a habit of running over my toes with the vacuum cleaner. – Cheri Donna, http://femalenaturist.blogspot.com/search/label/Nude%20Recreation%20From%20A%20Woman%27s%20Perspective

“I would like to see AANR, TNS, YNA and every other group adopt a central theme of ‘body freedom’ as a symbol of unification and common purpose.  You can achieve body freedom through nude recreation, artistic expression, social nudism, and political protest.  Finding and expressing this common bond of ‘body freedom’ can help to unite and heal the divisions we have between the organizations, and clarify the singular purpose we all have of liberating our minds and bodies.  So, when one is asked if they are a nudist or a naturist, they can simply respond that they are a body freedom advocate.” – Chet Kresiak, http://youngnaturistsamerica.com/nudist-naturist-defined/

“ . . underwear, for me, is like wearing a wool sweater on a hot summer day, like swimming in jeans, like going to bed in roller skates.  If I could live in a world without having to look at another pair of underwear, I’d jump at the chance.  Not everyone feels this way, of course.  My wife has tried nudism at home and admits to feeling nothing special.  But whatever nudists write in defense of nudism is a rationalization for how they feel.  This is not, however, to dismiss the benefits of the lifestyle.” – Nick Alimonos, https://writersdisease.net/2015/04/09/the-devils-advocate-why-nudism-is-wrong/

“As human nature is the more nudity is prohibited the bigger the underground lust problem grows.  That's what's happening in muslim countries.  The internet porn business is booming.  And even though homosexual relations are illegal and incur the death penalty, the bus drivers use the homeless boys constantly.  And some will even admit that their wives staying covered so thoroughly is at least part of the problem.  Not obtaining the physical relief they crave from their wives they turn to other sources.” – Reuben T, http://www.hikingnaked.com/index.php?topic=722.msg10313;topicseen#msg10313

“Nudism in France - In 1903 la Revue des deux mondes published a report on German nudism and S. Gay created a naturist community at Bois Fourgon.  In 1907, supported by his superiors, Abb Legre encouraged the students at his catholic school to bathe naked on the rugged shores near Marseille. . . Marcel Kienn de Mongeot is credited with beginning naturism in France in 1920. . . he found naturism as a treatment and a continuance of the conventions of the ancient Greeks.  In 1926, he started the magazine Vivre intgralement (later called Vivre) and the first French naturist club, Sparta Club at Garambouville, near Evreux. . . Drs. Andr and Gaston Durville bought a 70-hectare site on the le du Levant where they created the village of Hliopolis.  The village was open to the public.  In 1925 Dr Franois Fougerat de David de Lastours wrote a dissertation on heliotherapy. and in that year opened the Club gymnique de France. In 1936, the naturist movement was formally recognized. . . In 1944 Albert and Christine Lecocq founded the Club du Soleil with members in 84 cities.  In 1948 they founded the FFN, in 1949 they began the magazine, Vie au Soleil and in 1950 opened the CHM Montalivet, the world's first naturist vacation center where the INF was formed. . . QUOTES 2/21/2019

“Be an ambassador of nudity and naturism by being consistent in action and words.  As in all social aspects of life, we should be courteous, kind, and respectful, just as they should be to us.  Too many people mistake the meaning of ‘being courteous to others’ as meaning that we should be clothed.  That is not always the case.  It is left to us to decide when it is or isn’t.  The key is consistency in manners and attitude.  We wouldn’t feel awkward meeting someone at a clothed event so why should we when everyone is nude?  The only difference is our perception of the situation.  What do other people see in us?  Is it consistent?  When we are consistent in who we are (i.e. ‘not being weird’) it puts others at ease despite what we might or might not be wearing at the time.  We are telling them there is nothing to be alarmed over.  This is normal.  It’s made easier by talking about nudity beforehand.  Letting others know not only helps bring nudism to light, but also removes the sense that something about it is wrong.  This might seem small and insignificant, but it builds on itself.  It shows that we are no different than before.  Nudity is an aspect of our life like a religion or practice and should be respected and accepted.  Be an ambassador of nudity.” - Made in the Nude, http://madeinthenude.tumblr.com/post/131950743966/ambassadors-of-nudity-be-an-ambassador-of-nudity

“Anyone can be a naturist.  Background, age, shape, race, creed and color are irrelevant and it attracts people from all walks of life.  At naturist places you will see babes in arms, children and teenagers right up to the elderly.  There are thousands of naturist families – some into many generations - who find that they get on better with each other as they can all enjoy something together and children brought up in naturism say how they grew up without the usual hang-ups about their bodies.” - Edward, http://www.bn.org.uk/articles.php/_/information/about-naturism/what-is-naturism-r18

“Some people believe that their bodies are not especially attractive and fear that others will judge them negatively for having the wrong size or shape.  One visit to nudist club usually will put this fear to rest.  Few people have perfect bodies and a key part of nudist culture is body image acceptance, people accepting themselves and others regardless of size, weight or body type.  Sure some may make private judgments about the appearance of others but is it considered a gross violation of nudist etiquette to be open about it.  Those contemplating a first time social nudist experience should feel confident that the majority of nudists are accepting and non-judgmental when it comes to physical appearance.” – Larry Darter, http://www.examiner.com/article/common-fears-about-trying-nudism

“French women bid topless sunbathing ‘adieu’ – France’s summer is fast becoming a memory, and so is one of its iconic beach sights: topless women.  As few as 2 percent of French women under 35 now say they want to bare their breasts . . . ‘It’s seen as vulgar.  People are more prudish these days’ [Muriel Trazie] . . . ‘I’ve never done it.  I’d be too embarrassed.’ [Sandra Riahi] . . . When France stood up to a conservative backlash and refused to ban topless bathing in the 1970s, wearing the ‘monokini’ . . . became a symbol of Gallic pride.  But times change, and so do bathing suits.  Some link the demise of ‘le topless’ to a simple change in French fashion . . . But sociologists claim that the trend should be taken more seriously, with some suggesting that French women have forgotten the achievements of feminism. . . Scholars point to the aging of the Generation X in France and a step back to traditional values among the more conservative ‘Millennial Generation.’  And where once authorities defended toplessness, there’s now an official push to restrict it. . . the decline of topless sunbathing has also been linked to the financial crisis.  ‘If breast-baring is a sign of risk and revolution, covering up is a sign of safety. In uncertain times, you always dress more conservatively.’” – Associated Press, http://lifestyle.inquirer.net/171229/french-women-bid-topless-sunbathing-adieu/

“Yes, Heidi Klum is not a total 100 percent naturist, but thanks to her comments in interviews, she shows that naturism is not the outrageous hobby of a small minority, but is a practice that should be acceptable to every and any ‘body.’” - http://thenudeguru.blogspot.com/

“I enjoy almost all activities nude; that said I enjoy sitting on the porch in the evenings with a glass of wine listening to all the noises of the forest.  Being nude just seems to accentuate the sounds of nature.” – John, https://www.truenudists.com/forum/viewthread.php?id=48022&page=3

“When I'm naked I don't have anything to hide.  It's just all me, and whatever part of myself I'm not satisfied with I still have to live with it because it's just the way I am.  It sort of forces me to accept myself completely, because in the end I wouldn't change my body as long as it couldn't be considered natural.” -  Sivert Avaldi, https://www.truenudists.com/groups/view.php?action=viewthread&id=2925&idt=14836&page=4

“I haven't worn trunks in years and I'm not going to start.  You can't beat the total freedom.  It's a great life and is very healthy for you, both mentally and physically.” – John Cropper, http://www.theenterprisebulletin.com/2016/03/23/keep-your-pants-on-wasaga-says-no-to-nude-beach
