“Children are natural naturists and don’t confuse
nudity with sex until society and parents screw up their minds. How can we prevent our kids from becoming
citizens, wittingly or unwittingly, of the vast pornopolis of modern
culture? My answer is to practice
naturism with our family. All parents
should consider the positive aspects of incorporating naturism into their
family life. Little can be done to
better protect the family. Naturism can
be profoundly positive.” - Kenfreehiker

“ . . . everyone should spend at least an hour of
naked alone time a day. Sleep
naked. Dance naked. Stand in front of the mirror naked. And Embrace Your. Body. Love your skin, love yourself! Your confidence will skyrocket, and you will
feel fantastic in whatever you wear, because you will know that even if the
fabric does not flatter you, you still have your beautiful body underneath it
all, and that’s what matters.” - https://doorwaytoself.wordpress.com/2016/11/09/embracing-pure-raw-naked-you/
“. . . while backpacking nude, as I have met women on
occasion who gave me the thumbs up when their male companion was not looking,

“While my closest family members knew [I was a
nudist], many other family members didn't know until this past summer. At that time, I said something on Facebook
about going camping. A half-sister asked
where I liked to go camping and I mentioned Juniper Woods, telling of the
beautiful grounds and wonderful people.
Within 20 minutes I received a message from her telling me that she
didn't know that I was a nudist. Other
messages from friends and family members soon followed. None were judgmental; all of them simply said
that they didn't know. Telling others
that I'm a nudist never includes a drum-roll or fanfare. It's a statement of fact, just as my favorite
color or work situation are statements of fact of who I am. With this way of telling people I haven't had
lots of drama as a result. There are
often questions, which leads to wonderful discussion. Sometimes I even find someone who wants to
try the lifestyle on for size!” – Melissa, NY

“My rural setting allows me to do quite a bit outside
sans any clothing. But for things like
mowing the front yard I need some cover in case a car comes down the road which
I could not hear due to the mower. So
years ago I got creative and made some ‘barely there’ shorts. I took a pair of cotton boxers and cut away
the crotch material and slit the sides.
What was left was an elastic waist band with flaps of fabric hanging
front and back. To someone driving by
they pass for shorts, covering enough.
Even up close my junk and butt crack are covered. The advantage is that there is nothing
restricting my genitals and just the slight feel of the waist band touching
me. To the textiled they would feel
totally exposed, but I feel overdressed.” – Noodengr, https://www.truenudists.com/group/you-know-youre-a-nudist-/1/109199/

[In Sweden] “I live near the woods . . . That’s where
I go hiking usually and I take off my clothes at the beginning of the
trails. Several times I met some people,
also hiking, but clothed, who wondered and asked me, in a friendly way, why I
was naked. I told them I’m a nudist, and
they actually took interest and listened to me, they wanted to know more. . .
I’ve seen other people there who either just ignored me and walked by or even
said something like ‘what the heck are you doing, get dressed!’ It is what it
is, you have to accept it, some people will always be freaked out and not
understanding.” – Tha Naked I, http://www.nakedwanderings.com/2016/10/27/naturist-talks-tha-naked-sweden/

“This is why I use the term Naturism instead of
Nudism. The practice is not just about
being nude. It is getting back to a
natural condition physically, psychologically and socially. Extending that perspective outside of
yourself allows for an appreciation of others and the world around you.” –

“So you’re running around London zoo naked. Why? . . . it all started earlier in the year
when my wife’s cousin decided he would like to do the Streak for Tigers this
year but didn’t want to do it on his own . . . so he called on me. . . About
200 people either naked, in body paint, or carefully wrapped in silver foil
collected together for the 8 pm start.
After a quick countdown, we were off running naked past a crowd of
excited supporters . . . and the 300-yard dash around the circuit. . . for most
it was so much fun that we went around again . . . I think I went around five
times . . . and can honestly say that it was some of the best fun I have had in
a very long time.” – Lee Foster, NUSA Sun, Vol. 8, #9
“There was a time that I used to laugh at the idea of
nude hiking . . . I remember seeing photos of a nude hike posted at Valley View
hot springs in Colorado (they were wearing only their hiking boots and
backpacks), and I thought it was the goofiest thing I had ever seen. But since
then I've been hiking on various occasions without my sweaty clothes on. It
makes so much practical sense, and is far more comfortable . . . I've taken a
real liking to it.” – Alan P.
“Our clothing tells people who we are. They can make assumptions about what we do
for a living, where we may live, just by observing what we are wearing . . . If
a man is in a suit and tie you'll think he's a corporate guy, stiff and
buttoned up. Take that same guy fully
naked and he's just a human. Put him in
a nudist vacation with others who are nude, and he'll feel confident and able
to just be himself without the armor of clothing. When you can walk around naked in all of your
truth there's power in that for people.” - Dr. Sanam Hafeez, https://www.nbcnews.com/better/pop-culture/why-travel-s-latest-trend-nacation-gaining-momentum-ncna893151

Meditation
Freehike
Friday (7/20/2018) I decided it was time for a
meditative freehike at Green Gulch near our home. Another hiker had just arrived at the trail head,
so I volunteered to hike a while with him.
He was ‘completely’ clothed, so I kept my kilt and shirt on while we
hiked and talked together. I guess I
should have told him I enjoyed freehiking, but the timing just didn’t seem
right. Soon I branched off from him and stripped. Freehiking is a significant pleasure! I failed to find a dirt road or path so simply
bush wacked (with care you can do this nude).
Soon I reached the top of a hill with much less brush, where I sat on a
rock, enjoying the view, and meditated.
For me, naked meditation nude adds much to the experience. I found several other rocks for meditation as
I hiked back. On the way back, I found a
great place to free-camp and even skinny dip.
I dressed just before reaching the trailhead. I got a little burnt, but I’m sure that will
simply add to my tan in a day or so.
Soon, I joined Amy naked at home.

“I was beginning to realize that there was no good
reason to hide away when naked and that very few people were offended by
nudity. I often canoed naked when it was
warm enough, with a towel handy to cover up if anyone came near, and over the
years I used the towel less and less as I became more confident. If I came to a small beach with others
present I started asking if they minded me swimming naked. Initially I only did this when there were
only adults present but it wasn’t long I discovered that parents were usually
happy for me to be naked in the presence of their children.” – Brian, http://www.nakedwanderings.com/2016/12/01/naturist-talks-brian-uk/

“I've notice, even at a nudist resort, that one person
clothed quickly leads to two, then to three, etc., until most of the group
becomes self-conscious, and gets dressed.
Because textilism causes this reaction, I think Clothing Optional just
doesn't work. People innocently
introduce clothing optional policies thinking this will help newbies be more
comfortable until they get nude.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
The more common reaction is for others to get clothed. It's much better for newbies to just join in
- taking off their clothes.” – Kenfreehiker

One is just a day hike in an area . . . These are hikes that you can do
pretty safely alone, although certainly more enjoyable if you have some

Recently (7/2018) Amy and I drove from our place in
Dewey, AZ, to southern Colorado to meet with my oldest daughter’s family. The two-lane road across the Navajo
reservation was so comfortable that we carnuded much of the way.
We visited Mesa Verde National Park with the family,
and then river rafted together in Durango.
It was great visiting with family!
After leaving the family, Amy and I drove to Silverton
– beautiful. And then stayed one more
night at the Mesa Verde campground where we had a chance to get naked (an old bare
showed up).
On our return we took time to freehike along the San
Juan river and visited 4 Corners where Amy purchased some jewelry.

“I COULD begin this piece by telling you I was
attending a nude yoga class on a Friday night for research purposes for this
article. . . But that would be a lie. I
was filled with curiosity . . . as a regular yoga goer and I wanted to give it
a go. . . What kind of people would be there?
Who would be looking at me through their legs in downward dog and seeing
my natural — slightly saggy — boobs hanging from my chest? Would there be lesbians there? What shapes and sizes would the bodies
be? What happens if someone’s cheeks are
spread so wide I am disgusted rather than humbled and can’t look away? Would people see my vagina? My thoughts were starting to feel like a
circus. A naked freak circus. But what I was about to experience was far
from it. . . I chose a mat and sat down. . . The event was a woman only event,
and after not too much time, the air in the candle filled room was awash with a
combination of nerves, yet openness. It
was far from a nudist sanctuary. . . All covered up, one by one each woman . .
. shared why they were there. I was in
tears by some of the vulnerability women displayed. They shared stories of their breakups,
alcohol struggles, having babies, body issues, wanting to feel sexy but having
a sense of lost sexuality, not sleeping with their partners for long lengths of
time; the list went on. I was so moved
at how present everyone was . . . And just like that, I was sitting in a cross
legged position looking across the room at 22 bare backs. I could see different size bums, long hair,
short hair, different waists, different postures. It was really beautiful. . . Looking at
everyone stand in front of me, for a small moment, I started to remember being
a kid running through the sprinkler with my brother and my cousins and not having
a worry in the world. I was instantly
thrown a sense of sadness. We lose this
innocence and so much of the way women feel about their bodies becomes complex
and unhealthy. It started to awake
things in me about my own body and sense of self. My insecurity about my ‘round face’ . . .
Tears streamed down my face as I stopped for a second and considered the amount
of times I had berated myself on this. . . It was the most fulfilling,
challenging experience. . . when I think back on the experience, instead of
thinking about the uncomfortable giggles, I think of the word ‘courage’. Because that is the word I would use to
describe the women I shared my nudey night with.” – Stacy June, http://www.perthnow.com.au/lifestyle/health/baring-it-all-for-nude-yoga-stacey-june-road-tests-the-new-naked-trend/news-story/a26b41a1a483c7ba06ee3a377e165a5a

into a swimming costume on the beach in case I upset anyone on the beach! The process of social conditioning had begun
and was probably complete by the time as an 11-year-old we were made to take
communal showers after rugby. It wasn’t
long before all the boys either dodged or wore swimming costumes in the
showers. The only chink in the social
conditioning was the example of some of our sports teachers who used the boys’
showers, naked, as there weren’t any separate showers for the staff.” – Brian, http://www.nakedwanderings.com/2016/12/01/naturist-talks-brian-uk/
“One problem that naturists face when wanting to ‘come
out’ is how to raise the subject. At
work or with family and friends, one cannot easily bring up the subject, at
least many find that is true- you cannot just say out of the blue ‘I am a
naturist’ or even ‘we went to a nude beach’ on holiday, many fear to do
that. Having a book that is easily found
amongst books on other subjects makes a clear point, nothing is hidden.” - https://thoughtfulnaturist.wordpress.com/2016/11/24/why-nude-thoughts-and-reflections-on-social-nudity/
QUOTES
7/13/2018
“. . . after joining the US Air Force I decided to try
social nudism. I went to a nearby
resort, and within minutes I forgot I was naked. I had a great time there . . . After returning
from two tours in the Middle East I was diagnosed with PTSD and Major
Depressive Disorder. I found my life
difficult to handle both at work and at home. . . Just as returning to the
nudist . . . way of life has helped. I
feel like my worries and bad memories slip away for a while when I'm nude,
especially when I'm visiting with other nudists and friends. The time in nature, minus all the things that
remind me of my troubles, is cathartic and rejuvenating. . . It is more
enjoyable than going to therapy, and for me has been more successful too. . .
the peaceful and calm I find even amongst other nudists allows me to sort
through my thoughts and feelings far easier. I have made more progress in the
last year hanging out with family and friends at our monthly nude camp outs
than with anything else. Nudism has long
been a part of my life, and it always will be. I can't think of a better way to
relax, de-stress, and find the inner peace I lost while overseas.” - Paul A,

“I wanted the challenge of being naked. I wanted to try and be more comfortable in my
body. . . I was really nervous. I know
the theory - every body is beautiful - but I was sitting there thinking, does
my belly look big in this? What are my
thighs doing? It was frustrating.” –

“Hiking naked, practicing naked yoga or participation
to World Naked Bike Ride will contribute to show people that naked people are
harmless, they just want to practice their preferred activities naked.” – https://nuetheureux.wordpress.com/2016/11/07/what-needs-to-change-for-naturism-to-be-accepted/
“I'm naked 15 seconds after coming home. I work and do the pool area upkeep
naked. Neighbors don't mind. Even the cleaning ladies don't mind. It's a great life. . . I'm nude nearly 100%
of the time. I work at home and sit out
by my pool naked most the day. If I go
out my clothes come off the second I get in the house. I live with my wife and 14-year old. She's a school teacher and is naked at home
but my son only swims naked. . . The house is on a golf course and so far (7 years)
the golfers don't mind but a hedge blocks most of their view anyway. The neighbors, lawn treatment, and
landscapers don't mind. I routinely
stand talking to my neighbor while being naked.
I am careful not to be seen in the front of the house though. . . But
the deck and lanai are our sanctuary.” – LarryB
