Freehiking General Crook Trail Again

On Tuesday, 4/14/2020, Amy and I freehiked the General Crook trail along with two other NNAZ members.   This trail is only about 35 minutes from our place in Dewey.  I carnuded there and back; Amy wore her sun dress.  The weather was nice; this is an ideal hike when it’s cooler in early spring.  It starts at General Crook turnoff, just off Highway 17, south of Camp Verde (the road there is paved all the way).  It begins at a closed road sign, and then bears left up a dirt road.  We got naked soon after turning up the dirt road.  Before long, we reached the Grief Hill Forest Service water tank.  This time we kept to the dirt road instead of turning left up the wash.  Even though the dirt road only sloped up and down a little, it was moderately difficult, mostly because of the multitude of rocks.  The dirt road wanders through lots of beautiful vegetation – pines, etc.  The flowers were just beginning to bloom.  Camp Verde can often be seen down the valley.  We hiked to a wash that had a large undercut which looked almost like a shooting area.  I picked up an interesting cow bone for another member.  Then we all turned around and hiked back.  On the way back I found a rock for our rock garden.  We rushed to get dressed just before reaching the paved area because two ladies and a dog were coming towards us (the first we had ever seen on this trail).  After a wonderful naked hike in nature, we said goodbye to the others and drove back home.  As always, it was a great to spend the day together naked in nature.
