Stoneman Lake Area
On Thursday 5/7/2020, Amy and I explored and took a freehike near Stoneman Lake.  We left our place just before 10:00 am and carnuded north about 45 minutes to the Stoneman Lake exit.  Two miles along this paved road we parked and entered a closed forest road, that was level, partly just loose dirt and partly lava rock – moderately difficult.  The elevation was about 5700 feet; the weather warm.  The scenery was wonderful, starting with lots of Junipers and Pinyon Pines, then turning into lightly treed green meadows, and ending with more forest trees and a cliff gorge.  We took photos of the many blooming wildflowers and lichened rocks along the way.  The hike was shorter than most we had taken, but there are several side trails that deserve exploration.  Too soon, we returned to the car and I carnuded back home.  We stopped to pick up some lunch at Lucky’s before getting back – another successful naked exploration.  We’ll probably make this a group freehike next Monday.
